Husband in Saudi Arabia had wife raped by friends, watched the videos abroad

A35-year-old woman from Uttar Pradesh's (UP) Bulandshahr district has accused her husband of a shocking crime. She alleged that her husband allowed his friends to rape her in exchange for money over the past three years and watched videos of the rape recorded on a mobile phone while working in Saudi Arabia.

In her police complaint, the woman stated that she married a man from Gulaothi (Bulandshahr) in 2010.

She further revealed that they have four children: two sons aged 13 and 3, and two daughters aged 11 and 7. Her husband works as an automobile mechanic in Saudi Arabia and visits home once or twice a year. According to the woman, about three years ago, her husband returned home and orchestrated her rape along with two of his friends.

The woman claimed in her complaint that even while her husband was in Saudi Arabia, the two accused repeatedly raped her and recorded videos of the acts. When she confronted her husband, he told her to stay quiet as he was receiving money from the two men. "My husband would sit in Saudi Arabia and watch the videos on his phone. I stayed silent for the sake of my children as he threatened to divorce me."

Recently, the woman, along with her family, approached Bulandshahr's Senior Superintendent of Police, Shlok Kumar, and lodged a complaint. SSP Kumar said on Wednesday that the complaint has been received and an investigation is underway. Since the case is three years old, the local police will conduct a detailed investigation and take appropriate action. Kumar added that the woman's brother said they learned about the incident only two weeks ago, as she endured everything alone.

When the husband returned home recently, a quarrel ensued, and she mustered the courage to speak up. That's when the family discovered the horrifying ordeal. Her brother said, "She remained silent for the sake of her children and the family's honor. She is currently about one month pregnant. We demand justice. Her husband and his accomplices are trying to flee abroad." This incident not only exposes violence and exploitation against women but also raises serious concerns about women's status, dignity, and rights in society.
